POPHTC... Preparing Public Health Professionals in a Changing World
Then... schools of public health were criticized for being disconnected from the needs of public health workers
Now... POPHTC prepared more than 1,000 public health workers to face the threats of 2007-2008
Imagine... cutting-edge professional development for every public health worker in Pennsylvania and Ohio!
Background
POPHTC is one of 14 accredited Public Health Training Centers based in Schools of Public Health in universities across the nation. Funding for the project is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to "improve the nation's public health systems by strengthening the technical, scientific, managerial, and leadership competencies and capabilities of the current and future public health workforce." Nationally, the Training Centers disseminate information, experiences, and products needed for leadership in the public health sector.
The goal of POPHTC is to enhance the ability of public health agencies to provide training programs that focus on a continuous quality improvement model. |
